This is Peter Griffin's first nomination and win for the best character on an animated series.  Seth MacFarlane, the voice of Peter, has been nominated for Stewie Griffin and Glen Quagmire in the past.

While Family Guy may have its fair share of "what the h is going on?" moments, and thus has failed to win The Flintstones Award the past two seasons, Peter Griffin - Family Guy himself - never fails to impress.  It's his attitude, it's his voice, dag nabbit it's those green pants!  Whenever you watch an episode of Family Guy, you can count on at least a couple of instantly classic lines from Peter, and that is exactly why he wrapped up the very first Homer Simpson Award for the best animated character on television.
