I'm not going to miss these reviews. Two reviews for TV Fanatic in one night is tough, but when one of them is Hung, it's like cutting through one of JJ's favorite pieces of steak. I'm so glad this season is over, and I'm not at all looking forward to what season three has to offer.
My review is up over at TV Fanatic if you are so inclined to tell me that I'm a stud for putting up with this series for an entire season. If you'd rather just share this post in your reader to make fun of me for being "so smug" then you have that option as well.

Hung Review- Rash Behavior
![]() |
| Tanya is the absolute worst |
Ray- "I thought you were different. I thought you were a good person. And I thought you were pretty f**king cool. And you know what? You turned out to be none of those things."
This morning, over at TV Fanatic, I reviewed the penultimate episode of Hung's second season 'Fat Off My Love or I'm the Allergen'. I opened with an anecdote that I will retell now. Last night I attended a cookout/get together for my new Master of Sport Administration program at Belmont. The topic of television, and more specifically HBO, came to the forefront. Mike, kind of the ring leader of this group, mentioned how he was really enjoying this season of Entourage but that Hung was completely worthless.
This brings me to my next point. I have yet to hear of anyone who actually enjoys this show. I'm thinking it might be right up CJ's alley am I right? I'm pretty sure he likes everything that is terrible, so that would make sense. But honestly, I wonder what kind of ratings Hung gets, as compared to the other HBO series. Those numbers have got be severely low.
The only thing that makes me happy is that I only have to watch this show for ONE MORE WEEK!! I'm so GOD DANG SICK OF THIS SHOW!!! Not one of these characters gets me excited!!! NOT ONE!!! I just want to throw up when I watch this show every week! This terrible television needs to STOP!!! AND IT NEEDS TO STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!
So if that prompted you to want to read my review head over to TV Fanatic. If not, just wait for my Mad Men review in a little bit.

Hung Review- Ooo That Rash
Just a quick post here to document my eighth Hung review. My post is up over at TV Fanatic. The eighth episode of this second season has me just as bored as the first one did. I can't even get mad about how much I dislike this show, because I have since the beginning. If it were progressively getting worse, I'd have more to complain about.

Hung Review- Keeping Things Trim
This morning, over at TV Fanatic, I reviewed the seventh episode of Hung's second season, 'The Middle East Is Complicated'. After asking for suggestions on how to improve my reviews over there, the boss man told me to not explain as much of the action of the episode. Well thank you! That is something I do a lot less of over here at Quiet Pool. I thought that explaining a bit of what happened might be something I needed to do more of at place like that.
My blog over here at the the Pool is just my thoughts, so I don't care if my readers know what happened during the episode. I know which of my eight readers watch the show I'm posting about, so I know some of them can jump right in to my post, and some of them can skip right over it. At TV Fanatic I thought I would take a more broad approach by doing a bit more explanation. I guess I was wrong in my assumption, and will try to keep my reviews to mostly opinion from this point forward.
Anyway, another week of Hung came and went. This week's was full of gratuitous nudity and swearing, so if you're into that you should watch the ep. If you're not, you should read my review, or just click on the link so I get more page views.

Hung Review- Beaver Or...
Lenore- "Did Tanya put anti-Lenore ideas in your head?"
This morning over at TV Fanatic I reviewed the sixth episode of Hung's second season, 'Beaverland'. It is a title that worked so well on every level that they decided to get away from their silly way of giving episodes two titles. Seriously, 'A Man, A Plan or Thank You Jimmy Carter'? 'Sing It Again, Ray or Home Plate'? It worked for Dr. Strangelove, but it really is just messy here. It seems as if they can't decide on the most memorable moment of the ep, and give it two names. I'd almost give it a pass if they did it every single time, but then there are weeks like this one where the title is just 'Beaverland'.
So head on over to TV Fanatic and give my review some love. Because here at the Quiet Pool Perspective, we don't care if you actually read the reviews, as long as you leave a nice comment. Hey even a vote of 1 Star for the episode would be nice.

Hung Review- I Put My Weed In There
Patty: This one time I was on a diet pill and I stayed up for 67 hours... I lost three pounds.
Hung has come to a pretty big catch 22 for me. The show really needs to be an hour per episode, because hardly anything ever happens from week to week. Having said that, I am usually disinterested in whatever is going on, so another half hour per week would probably be pretty dreadful.
This morning, over at TV Fanatic, I wrote up a review on the fifth episode of the second season, 'A Man, A Plan.' Again, nothing much of note happened. The show finally has decided to explore its minor characters. Last week it was Ray's son Damon, who got a bunch more screen time this week, and last night it was Ray's assistant coach, Mike Hunt. Yes, you read that name correctly. It's no wonder that a show that is this blatantly obvious in its sexual nature would randomly name one of its characters that.
And now for some good news. There are only five episodes left in the season! This fall I will be reviewing The Office and 30 Rock at TV Fanatic, so there is something else to look forward to. But for now, just head over and read my review and comment on how terrible this show is.

Quiet Pool at TV Fanatic- Hung's 'Sing It Again Ray'
Along with the added bonus of reviewing Mad Men this week, I also did my weekly Hung review over at TV Fanatic this morning. Not as fun of a job, but the more I write about this series, the more interesting it gets. Just watching it is not nearly stimulating as figuring out what it is trying to do on a week to week basis.
In this week's episode of Hung, 'Sing It Again Ray,' Ray and Tanya help Damon fit in with some new friends, Ronnie and Jessica argue about babies, and just as the episode title explains, Ray sings it again...and again...and again.

Quiet Pool at TV Fanatic- Hung's 'Mind Bullets'
This week over at the TV Fanatic I discuss the ins and outs of Ray Drecker's relationship with his children in Hung. Unlike what I thought might happen after last week's review, I found so much to write about after 'Mind Bullets'. I guess I just have so many problems with most of these characters that I get carried away.
On this week's installment of Hung, Ray tries to connect with his kids, Jessica struggles with her marriage and the Lenore vs. Tanya battle continues. Sounds familiar.
So head on over to the TV Fanatic and read my review, check out the recap, or try to laugh at some of the quotes.

Quiet Pool at TV Fanatic- Hung's 'Tucson is the Gateway to Dick'
Today, over at the TV Fanatic, I discussed the repetitive nature of HBO's Hung. After a review dealing with how the series is running in circles, I'm curious as to how I'm going to get through writing about every episode this season. In a bit of irony, I fear that I will begin to repeat myself as the season goes along because it may be the same things that put me off week after week.
In this second episode of Hung's second season Lenore and Tanya continue their fight for power, Jessica has more trouble with her kids, and Ray shows once again that he's a terrible prostitute.
So head over to TV Fanatic and read my review on Hung's second episode of the season. Maybe just read the recap to see what happened, take a look at some of my favorite quotes, or just head right to the comments section to tell me how little talent I have.

Bi-Monthly Power Rankings- Honorable Mentions
Since many shows are on hiatus during the summer, and I am getting ready to leave for an LA vacation (writing this on Sunday), I'm only going to post a few notes on each series. The honorable mentions are some shows that I watch that don't currently make my top 20. They're not necessarily 21-30, but I enjoy them and others should think about checking them out. Without further ado, here are July's Quiet Pool Perspective Power Rankings.
Honorable Mentions
Show- (last time)...red=moving down, green=moving up
30 Rock- (12) Thursdays on NBC
The TGSers seem to really be falling out of good graces at the Pool as 30 Rock falls from 13th to honorable mention after a strangely bad season.
Eastbound and Down- (-) Sundays on HBO
The Danny McBride comedy finally has a second season premiere date. Kenny Powers will return to the screens, where he's always f'ing in, on September 26th on HBO.
Greek- (-) Mondays on ABC Family
Cappie and company are on what I believe will be a quick hiatus. Greek returns for a fourth and final installment before the end of the summer.
Hung- (-) Sundays on HBO
I'm not a big fan of the HBO quasi-comedy, but since I'm writing about it for TVFanatic.com, I figured I'd give it a quick plug here.
Jonas LA- (19) Sundays on Disney Channel
The reinvention for season two takes a dip in comedy but the corny drama is still really good.
Men of a Certain Age- (-) Mondays on TNT
Ray Romano is getting Emmy buzz for his dramatic role as Joe Tranelli, and deservedly so.
Mentalist, The- (16) Thursdays on CBS
The procedural is losing no steam in terms of ratings, but for personally I'd like to see a bit more serialization here.
Persons Unknown- (-) Mondays on NBC
The first three episodes have been decent to good. It's a nice summer thriller if not nearly on par with last season's Harper's Island.
Ricky Gervais Show, The- (-) Sundays on HBO
Probably just as good as a podcast, but the added animation puts it at the top of my animated series list. Can't beat Ricky's laugh.
Top Chef- (-) Wednesdays on Bravo
Quality reality competition currently airing this season from D.C.

Quiet Pool at TV Fanatic- Hung's 'Just The Tip'
As a way to get more than the eight of you to read my obsolete thoughts on television, I reached out to a few entertainment websites about writing for them. The result? This summer I will be writing reviews on HBO's Hung for the TV Fanatic. If everything works out, this fall I will continue with a One Tree Hill column and as luck will have it reviews of Sons of Anarchy.
This morning I wrote up a review and recap of last night's season two premier of Hung, 'Just The Tip.' Although it's not anywhere near my favorite shows list, I somehow found the ability to think of a few good things to say about it. A series listed as a comedy, but rarely if ever gets me to laugh, Hung follows the dark life of a high school teacher turned male prostitute.
So head on over to my review at TV Fanatic and leave a comment about how awesome (or terrible) I am. Because here at the Quiet Pool we don't care if you watch the shows, or even read the reviews, as long as you comment.
