Bring It On Down To SNLville

Justin Timberlake, who Bill Simmons claimed is on the Mount Rushmore of SNL hosts, graced us with his presence on the Saturday Night Live stage last night. First of all, he's not even close to the Mount. Right now, mine would look like this...Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken.

After a long SNL layoff, I was expecting great things last night. There were a few bright spots, but plenty of the usual garbage. Starting off with a terrible political cold open, they threw in the always awful weekend update with unfunny Seth Meyers and a terrible idea of bringing Jimmy Fallon back for a sketch. Now we get to what I'm assuming most people thoroughly enjoyed. Another overrated Digital Short with Timberlake and Samberg. The Lonely Island digital shorts have been some of the best things on SNL, but D*ck In a Box and now Motherlover are two of their worsts.

Let's get to last night's bright spots...

Immigrant Tale was easily the funniest of the night. JT playing his great, great, great grandfather who tells the story of what JT will be doing years in the future. Loved Justin's sense of humor in making fun of himself, but was he serious about that trying stuff with dudes?

JT's monologue was very enjoyable and the Target Lady sketch was good as usual. Surgery Center started out just ok, but the repetitive nature of 'bring it on down to plasticville' got me every time.
