Survivor Week 10- Powerful Parvati

Everyone should just sit back and be happy that JT's terrible move last week ended in fine fashion one episode later. He gave the only thing of value in this game to someone on the other team on the fact that he trusted him after shaking hands a few times. Thank you Russell (and mainly Parvati) for getting rid of him for this astronomically big mistake.

On this week's B.S. Report with Bill Simmons, he chatted with his buddy Dave Jacoby about reality tv. During their Survivor chat they agreed that the contestants know exactly who is going home about 90% of the time at tribal council. This was definitely one of those 10% occasions. Parvati had a good feeling it was going to be either Jerri or Sandra that the Heroes were voting out, so she gave each of them a hidden immunity idol. But why those two? What would make her pick those two to try and save?

We saw a couple of the Heroes mentioning that they'd like to pull the switcheroo on Jerri or Sandra, but this never got around to Parvati. All we saw was Parvati getting straight up lied to by Amanda. Of course Parvati saw right through her, but still didn't know what the Heroes actual plan was. Was she just guessing? Or did she have her reasons to believe they were gunning for one of the two old ladies? The end result seemed like a genius move by Parvati, but I wanna know how she came to that decision.

Survivor Week 9- Take My Idol, Please

Russell Hantz- "Now I don't even have to find idols...People are actually giving me idols."

Was this entire episode just a dream? Or did I witness the most ridiculous move in the history of mankind? You're a member of the Heroes tribe. If you win the final immunity challenge you go into the merge at an even five to five against the Villains. Instead of taking your chances against what you think is an "all girl alliance" of five, you hand over the most coveted commodity on Survivor? Yes JT's plan, which was eventually enacted with only one slight questioning by Amanda, was to give Russell his hidden immunity idol so that he could save himself and join forces with the Heroes after the merge.
"Granted I get a chance to talk to Russell at the next immunity challenge and we win...I give him the hidden immunity idol, he votes out Parvati- Bam!- Done."
What?!? First of all the guy admitted the biggest problem with this plan. He's guessing as to what is going on inside the Villains tribe. Of course we know that his guess is completely wrong. You're guessing on the situation! You have maybe 10 minutes of contact per day with the opposing tribe and you think you can get a feel on what is going on? I thought you guys played this game before. Well when you have a guy like JT in charge, a guy who didn't do any game play his first time on Survivor, you are gonna be in trouble.

"We're gonna make Survivor history with this one today guys," JT said. Well you're right brotha. You're making history as one of the worst moves of all time. As Parvati so succinctly put it, "You don't hand the enemy idols." What you do with hidden immunity idols is what Parvati did with her new found one. You keep them hidden.

Unlike JT who gave his away, and Russell who once again showed the whole tribe his shiny new toy, Parvati used a strategy closest to what I think should be done. She showed only one person her hidden immunity idol clue and later on the idol itself. She showed Danielle and kept it a secret so that she can create a strong bond with her and only her. If you tell the whole world, then you lose that bond and have less trust with your idol buddy. Good work Parvati. What do I know? She'll probably get eliminated for it soon.

Survivor Week 5- JT's 180

For as much as I didn't like JT for all of his good guy-ness the last time he was on, I'm really starting to love him for pulling a complete 180 this time around. Back in Tocantins he went about his business, winning challenges and won the whole thing because everyone respected his play. This time around he's on the Heroes All-Star Team is being as villainous as anyone out there. His previous acts of kindness make him that much more enjoyable now. It's as if he said to himself, "I've already won this thing once, let's see if I can mix things up a bit this time." I like that about JT.

Nothing else of major importance happened this episode, except Coach completely disregarding Tyson's plee to do his Coach-chee in private. It makes me think that those to events happened in reverse order from how they were shown. What was Coach like, my boy Ty wants me to take it easy with the Tai-chi...I'll get everyone on the squad together to show them how good I am at it. Not likely. Either way I enjoy that all but Russell have accepted Coach and his ridiculous ways.

Speaking of Russell, he went against his teammates wishes, went searching for the hidden idol, and eventually found it. What did he do? Of course he told as many people as he could. I guess he didn't get burned by this last time around, but he should have. Why not keep something like that a secret until you think you might be going home and then surprise everyone with a play at tribal? Again, he did make it to the final two last season playing this way.

Jaydon finally takes a hit in the fantasy results and everyone else catches up a bit. My heroes, Colby and Candice are hanging on by a thread so I could go for either a Heroes immunity win or a merge real quick.

Survivor Week 4- Coaching Up Coach

The Last of the Mohicans, King Arthur and Coach Ben Wade. All three are legendary, but only one will be written about here. The beginning of this fantastic episode of Survivor saw Coach crying like a little baby due to the fact that Sandra called him out at tribal council for not helping around camp. Assistant Coach Tyson came out to the woods to support the Dragonslayer in his time of need. After Coach admitted that he wanted to quit, Tyson told him that he'd help him get through it but he'd have to listen to what the skinny blond thought he should do. What was his advice? Stop wearing feathers in your hair at tribal council, do your tai chi in private when no one's around and stop telling your stories. People don't believe the stories and they mock you for it. Wow! That was quite straight forward, honest and surprising. In the past Tyson has coddled the Dragonslayer, but tonight he did helped him get along with the other survivors in the long run, even if it might take away from the audience's enjoyment in the near future.

Boston Rob's way of dealing with the situation..."Pick your f*ckin' head up and be a man."

Clever editing here as they made it seem like both tribes found the hidden immunity idol clue around the same time. There's no way that happened but it made for better television. We got to see how the two tribes dealt with the situation. The Villains did what makes the most sense to stay a cohesive unit. Coming to the conclusion that anyone who finds it or looks for it is gone and that will be that is a good way to keep everyone other than that person together. The Heroes, on the other hand, basically said every man for himself and you guessed it, it caused animosity within the tribe.

Tom found the idol and tried to sneak it away like Russell did last season, but Amanda saw him do it. Instead of keeping that precious piece of information and using it to her advantage she spilled the beans to the entire tribe. That was valuable info that she could have used to get certain people on her side at any point in this game.

After the Villains won both reward and immunity it was the Heroes time to send another person home. The decision on who was going home switched many times this week. The day started out with the outsiders, Tom and Colby, on the block. JT then convinced Amanda and the rest of the crew that Candice was too sneaky to keep in the game. After Cirie found out about this plan she convinced the group that Tom having the idol was even more of a factor in this game and they needed to get it in play and therefore get rid of Colby. As JT spied in on that conversation from atop the hill, he came to the conclusion that he underestimated the sneakiness of Cirie and Tom and Colby were the straight shootin' types that he could align with.

That is when they came up with the plan to save Tom and Colby by switching JT's vote from Colby to Cirie at the last minute. When Tom uses the idol the rest of the crew thinks they are still golden as Colby will be leaving. JT kept his side-switching a secret and the Good Guy Pact sent Cirie packing earlier than she could have wanted. Great Move.

Survivor Tocantins Championship

Ending the Game
Man these last three rounds come quickly. With four survivors left I think it was the right move for both JT and Stephen to get rid of Taj first. When it got down to three JT had the power as he obtained immunity once again. So he took Stephen because he is a man of his word, but backstabbed Taj one round earlier? Interesting. He also didn't write Coach's name down because he had a pact with him, but had no problem doing it to Taj, whom he had an alliance with since day four in this game. That being said, his answers to the final questions were much better than Stephen's and it seems that those final impressions are lasting with the jury voters. All in all, I'm glad JT took home the trophy and the money. The rancher from Alabama did so in style, winning with a unanimous vote for only the second time in Survivor history.

Here are Stephen and JT with their commentary on last night's final vote.

Fantasy Championship
Congrats Jaydon on your Fantasy Survivor Championship. Jay's depth proved to much for Larry's late round comeback of JT and Coach. I definitely like the point system we used this season better than last. Rewarding those that get further in the game with big point jumps (Stephen, JT).
