and the Poolie goes to...

1. Macy Misa (Jonas) 15 points (1st)

This is Macy Misa's first Poolie nomination, and first ever win for best female character in a drama series.

We here at the Quiet Pool Perspective are proud to welcome Poolie voter T-Time, who has some nice things to say about Macy Misa, Nicole Anderson, and the people of Jonas.

This award is almost like a reverse Emmy. You know where they give best actress on a comedy to someone who had a good dramatic performance on a show categorized as a comedy? Well here the award for supporting actress in a drama goes to the best comedic performance on a show that is categorized as a drama. I’m not saying that Nicole Anderson can’t do drama. There were “moments” in the show and she nailed them. But the primary purpose of her character, Macy Misa, is that she is funny. Anderson’s comedic timing is impeccable; in most episodes of Jonas LA, the best line, or lines, were delivered by Macy Misa. While many have missed out on the show, it would be worth it even for non-fans of the Jo Bros to tune in and catch a Macy gem.

Third Day of TV Christmas- Three Jo Bros

In a new tradition here at the Pool, as both a way of summing up the year in television and celebrating the holidays, we will be releasing the first Twelve Days of TV Christmas series leading up to the day where I hope to receive multiple DVD box sets of my favorite shows. Whereas the Poolies celebrate the best television of the season by a number of voters, the Twelve Days of Christmas is my attempt at giving credit to the top series of the year by me and only me. Having said that, a couple of my favorite shows have been left off the list for a multitude of reasons. In the case of Chuck and Justified, it's mostly because I couldn't fit them into a numbered slot as well as some others. With Sons or Always Sunny, I just wasn't as happy with their respective seasons in 2010. So without further ado, here is the Third Day of TV Christmas. Feel free to sing along.
On the third day of Christmas my tv gave to me...three Jo Bros, two Terriers, and a paper boss in Scranton, PA.

The third show to earned accolades for 2010 is our second straight canceled series. Jonas concluded its second season during the year, and the bros decided to stop the show for what I'm sure are a ton of good reasons. In between the first and second seasons, Joe, Nick and Kevin changed locations, changed the tone of the show, and even changed the title. At first I was worried that tonal change, from a complete slapstick to a more melo-dramatic comedy, was going to be a problem. Although Jonas LA wasn't as funny as the first season, it was not any worse by season's end. The ridiculous drama they brought week in and week out put it up there with the likes of Mackenzie Falls for most drama on television. At the end of the day, I've grown to be a bit too obsessed with these brothers. Maybe it's because I have two brothers myself, and wish that we could in fact be the Jo Bros. Or maybe it's because they are just that awesome, that they deserve to be idolized by one and all. I will continue to listen to their music, and follow whatever projects they move on to in the future.

Camp Rock 2- We Be Jammin'

Spoiler alert...Below are some thoughts on the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jame. So watch the movie, switch over to Camp Star, then read what I had to say.

Jason on being a lead singer- "You are gonna need to buy tighter pants and learn how to play the tambourine."

Here's what was so good about the first Camp Rock: There was a nice emotional story line about Demi Lovato's character getting noticed as a good singer and falling for Joe Jonas's character. There were a few fantastic musical numbers that tied into the emotional content. And there was some God awful acting, music and writing, which made for great unintentional comedy.

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jame didn't live up to my expectations as a sequel to the original. The story line of a rival camp has been done so many times before (see HeavyWeights) and it just didn't pack the same type of punch. Because of that, the musical numbers didn't have nearly as much weight, and I was hardly moved by the final performance. Conversely, on average the music and acting was better so there wasn't as much to make fun of. To get to the point, there was no "Too Cool" song and dance to laugh at for hours on end.

It was definitely a plus to have bigger roles for Nick and Kevin Jonas this time around, but in the end it wasn't enough to make up for the lack of interesting story. Nick's song in which he shelled out a bunch of random information about himself to his new crush was extremely entertaining though. Kevin came on strong early with his patented dumb act, but it ran out of gas after the first 20-30 minutes. The addition of Frankie Jonas helped nothing, per usual.

Maybe I'm forgetting some of the unimportant numbers from the first movie, but it seemed like there were a bunch more random musical numbers in this one. A very musical-esque style of working songs in that I didn't think they had as much in Camp Rock. They were always singing at their various "jams" so they didn't have to have random singing break out where everyone knew the lyrics. It was a bit annoying at times.

To take a note from the B.S. Report's 90210 Awards, I'm going to award the Camp Rock Biggest Leap of Faith Award to the outright inability for others to recognize that Connect 3 is a hugely successful band. Honestly, Camp Star thought they would beat Camp Rock when they had this ridiculously popular boy band at Camp Rock. It's like if we were watching a random show on MTV where they had a contest of high schoolers against each other...and the actual Jonas Brothers were on one of the teams!!! Would the other camp get a single vote? No. I don't care how much marketing Axel did, every person would be voting for the big stars over some random people they never heard of.

Friday Fancies- Wizards Doin' Teen Wolf

Wizards of Waverly Place
After what I thought was a poor season premier (the stupid Frankengirl was a bad idea), this week's ep showed me that Wizards is stepping back up to the plate. At first, I didn't really give this show a shot and thought some of the characters were stupid and some were useless. I have quickly found neither to be true. The parents, especially Jerry, definitely have their moments. Justin, who I thought was awful at first, has turned himself around and into a character that I find very funny almost every episode. Harper, although still painful to watch at times, continues to surprise me with moments of likability.

My highlight of this week's episode was when Alex explained to the family that she used air quotes to say "out of this world." Max was confused because he thought she was doing the Teen Wolf Dance!!! First off, it's awesome that a character that was born in the mid 90s is even aware of Teen Wolf. That being said, when he started doing the dance itself to show everyone what he though Alex was doing, he did a ridiculously terrible job at it. I think he needs some lessons from The Bonz and JJ on how to correctly do the Teen Wolf Dance.

Cable Fall Preview

Although many of these cable shows have already started, I believe they need their just due here.

HBO
Entourage

I thought I'd mention the two HBO programs that are finishing up their current seasons. Entourage has four episodes left and it has been as lackluster of a summer as ever for the entertainment dramedy. Lowlighted by Tom Brady's awful performance, season six has been less than stellar. Stop following E's love life. Nobody likes him. It's torture.

True Blood
True Blood, on the other hand, has taken as giant leap in the right direction in its sophomore season. What started out as a weak-charactered vampire show, has turned into a fantastic-storylined supernatural thriller. The 10th episode of this second season was one of my favorite eps of any show in a long time. After this past Sunday's penultimate ep, there is only one left this summer.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Curb Your Enthusiasm finally returns on September 20. After what was one of the two best seasons in the show's history, Larry David had a lot to live up to this fall. He found a way to get me even more excited. Prettttty, pretttttty, pretttttty excited. A Seinfeld Reunion. All four of the main actors from Seinfeld, yes Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and even Michael Richards, will be major contributors on this season of Curb. Not only that, but the premise of the season will be Larry and the gang putting a Seinfeld Reunion in the works.

Disney
After the DVD release of Hannah Montana The Movie this month and the television premier of Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie this past Friday, the Disney Channel's big three are picking up major steam. Joined by Sonny with a Chance, these three shows have gotten me hooked on the Disney Channel as I used to be with Even Stevens back in the day. They don't come without major success either, as the Wizards Movie recorded the highest viewership of the summer, with 11.4 million viewers. I'm assuming most of them are not 23 year old dudes.

Greek
I have yet to watch the season 3 premier of Greek that aired tonight (Monday) but I'm definitely excited for it to be back. Whether it's hating on Rusty's awkwardness, loving Cappie's wit, or crushing on Casey for some inexplicable reason, Greek always brings plenty of entertainment.

Mad Men
Mad Men is three eps in now, and it started up where it left off. Interesting, but not entertaining. I find myself a bit intrigued by the stories and historical elements of the show, but they don't manage to portray them in a way that gets me excited for the next episode. I'd much rather watch a show that can entertain without being smart (the late Las Vegas) than a smart show that fails to entertain (Mad Men).
