This is Peter Griffin's first nomination and win for the best character on an animated series.  Seth MacFarlane, the voice of Peter, has been nominated for Stewie Griffin and Glen Quagmire in the past.

While Family Guy may have its fair share of "what the h is going on?" moments, and thus has failed to win The Flintstones Award the past two seasons, Peter Griffin - Family Guy himself - never fails to impress.  It's his attitude, it's his voice, dag nabbit it's those green pants!  Whenever you watch an episode of Family Guy, you can count on at least a couple of instantly classic lines from Peter, and that is exactly why he wrapped up the very first Homer Simpson Award for the best animated character on television.

This is South Park's fourth nomination and second straight win for the best animated series on television.

The group of animated series is stronger than most people would think.  I know Jaydon would put Archer as one of the best comedies on television, and I didn't even vote it in my top three.  South Park was my second favorite this season, but it's ability to appeal to so many earned it a second straight Flintstones Award in 2012.  Cartman and the gang had plenty of great adventures this season, including "I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining," which was weird even for this Comedy Central series' standards.

1. South Park (Comedy Central) 8 points (2nd)

This is South Park's third Poolie nomination and first win for best animated series.

What a coincidence...the first time I watched a full season of South Park, it wins its first Poolie!  I still enjoy Family Guy more, but South Park definitely has its moments.  The entire superhero plot of last season had me in stitches most of the time.  It's been on for years and years, but I can see Trey Parker and Matt Stone going for many more if the quality continues.

Family Guy is what it is. It was once ridiculously hilarious. It is now ridiculously hilarious, in spurts. Whether McFarlane and company have spread themselves too thin through three animated series, or they've just run out of jokes for certain characters, Family Guy has slid in its quality.

Oh, this is supposed to be a positive review right? Well Family Guy is still funny. Between Peter and Stewie you have two of the funniest characters on tv right there. It's just too bad that the schtick has worn thin on me. The wild tangents and constant allusions have gotten tiresome. Shoot! Did it again.

Yeah sure it's not that stacked of a category, but it should still be proud of this win. I think the second Star Wars spoof helped its cause quite a bit...at least in getting my second place vote. Something, Something, Something Dark Side wasn't as good as Blue Harvest, but this Star Wars fan will tell you that Empire Strikes Back isn't as good as the original Star Wars so they had less to work with. Yeah, yeah. I know what you're saying. Empire Strikes Back is well known as the best Star Wars movie. Agree to disagree. Back to the matter at hand. The season finale was a great punctuation on a subpar season, as their full fledged parodies are always better than trying to fit a bunch of spoofs inside of one ep.

Sunday Speculations- Entourage Goes Terminator

Curb Your Enthusiasm
When I watched the 3-4 minute preview of the Seinfeld cast discussing their experiences on this season's Curb I got really excited. They talked about how well it turned out, but what else was I really expecting? That they were going to say that the end product didn't turn out that well? Not likely. But still, it got me real excited. How did the first Seinfeld-esque Curb episode go? I loved it. It's similar to how just mentioning Brandon and Dylan in the new 90210 makes it that much better. At the beginning of this week's ep Larry just starts mentioning Jerry and story ideas for George and I got giddy.

Once Jerry, Jason, Julia and Michael it just got better and better. A couple of interactions between LD and the cast got me going. The first was when Jerry told Larry that he had shifted his view on Reunion Episodes and their conversation turned to "Shift, no shift, shift, no shift." Classic. When Larry had lunch with Jason, I thoroughly enjoyed when he kept making fun of George, because we all know that George was always supposed to be Larry.

My highlight of the ep was when Larry had to think about the two consequences for his decision to either save the NBC presidents' life or not. His first dream sequence is having a great time on the set of Seinfeld as he begins to win back his ex-wife. Then we get to the moment that should have made everyone laugh hysterically. His second dream sequence was him walking up to the casket at the NBC presidents' funeral, putting his hands up in the air and smiling. Unbelievable!

Entourage
This week I felt thoroughly satisfied with the Entourage season finale. The two characters I care about, Johnny Drama and Ari, had story lines that were both humorous and heartfelt. Ari foreshadowed his big moment by saying that he was going to go Terminator on Terrence's building after he bought the agency. Sure enough, after buying out Terrence, Ari walked through the halls with a paint ball gun, shooting everyone and telling them they were fired. Now Drama, on the other hand, was basically giving up on his acting career and the self-loathing was fantastic. After giving it one last ditch effort in his audition for the new Melrose Place, he had peace with himself. Then he was given new life, when the studios decided they wanted to create a whole new show for him. I felt really good for him in that moment. And we won't talk about the terribleness that was E's engagement and Turtle's breakup.

Mad Men
Note to Matthew Weiner: Nobody cares about Pete Campbell's life. I hate to say it, but I think I'd rather see a Peggy Olsen storyline than spend another terrible week in the life of Mr. Campbell. With no Roger in this week's ep, the women of Mad Men had to carry the load. Betty and Sally Draper were terrific. Why does Betsy know Italian? I don't know but I liked it. Her little charade with Don outside the hotel was fantastic. Sally shows both sides of her in this episode. She lays down the pain on her brother Bobby, before showing the sweet, shy side when Don comes home.

The Cleveland Show
I like Family Guy as much as the next guy. American Dad can do it for me at times at well, but why would you spin-off of Family Guy with a terrible character? To be fair, there aren't many good minor characters on Fam Guy. Peter, Stewie, Brian and Chris are all good, but Quagmire, Cleveland; these guys aren't the ones you should base a whole show around. As far as the other characters on Cleveland's new show go, the only one I'm finding myself laughing at thus far is the Big Brown Bear. His accent is quality comedy for me.

Sunday Speculations- Curb Has a Little Chinese

Family Guy
So our good friend Seth MacFarlane decided to rip on Disney in this week's episode. As Stewie and Brian were making their way through all of the different Universes, they fell upon the Universe in which everyone is drawn as a Disney cartoon. As one of the biggest Disney guys out there, I loved it. MacFarlane captured the true essence of Disney animation and it was awesome. He really didn't trash on Disney at all, except for the final dig that Disney hated Jews. Peter was my favorite because reminded me of Gaston's lackey, Lefou, from Beauty and the Beast. All in all it was a good start to the season.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
We got the first "Pretty, pretty, pretty" of the season during this episode, but that wasn't even close to the best part of the episode for me. It's the subtleties to Leon's comedy that drive me crazy. At the end of the episode, when Loretta and the rest of the Black family is driving away from LD with steam coming out of their ears, Leon shows up at the driveway next to Larry. After LD explains to him that there was a huge blow up and Leon's whole family is leaving and never coming back, Leon explains calmly, "That's some sh*t." Larry, wanting to make sure Leon is going to join his fam, prods, "Now you're going tooo...?" And Leon steals the show with "Go upstairs and eat this f*ckin' Chinese food...in my room." Fantastic.

Amazing Race
Two teams have garnered my affection after the two-hour season premier. Zev and Justin are a dude with Asperger's syndrome (Zev) and his friend Justin. Zev has already given me more laughs than anyone from a year ago. His boy Justin is just the straight man at this point. Flight Time and Big Easy, the Harlem Globetrotters seem laid back, but once they found out the poker playing girls lied to everyone the claws started to come out. I hope both these pairings go a long way.

Best comp of the ep, Japanese Game Show. The energy from the fans and the host was fantastic. I hated that this comp was basically luck. Whenever the roulette wheel lands on you, you get to do the challenge? Dumb. That being said, the challenge did look a bit difficult. Eat a wasabi bomb in two minutes. Now I've never even thought about eating wasabi, but if I were in this competition I know who I would want for my partner...Lar. I enjoy hot foods a good amount, but when we got suicide wings from Planet Wings, I was downing milk after one bite. Lar put down six to eight of those things like it was nothing.

The Poolie Goes To

1st. Family Guy- 28 points...(1st)
And with no guest spot here I am with some insight...

I don't know what was going on at the turn of the century to cause Fox to cancel Family Guy, but it must have been nuts. Seth MacFarlane created the funniest animated television series since Snagglepuss graced us with his gay lisp of a voice on Saturday mornings. Sure the plot of
every episode is ridiculous, but I'm not watching my animated sitcoms for structure. I'm watching Family Guy for non-stop attempts at the funny.

Season seven saw a lot of that with a pure gem of a second episode. When Peter takes the family to a 50s diner 'Surfin Bird' by The Trashmen comes on the Juke Box and nothing but comedy gold ensues. Nothing this season has been better than when Peter buys the record for himself and plays it over and over again.
